Waymark Mathematics started after years of watching the same pattern. When an able child steps back from maths, the classroom is rarely where they find their way back. Too much competes for attention at once, and the individual focus these students need is beyond what any classroom can offer.
One to one changes that. Working directly with a student, at their own pace, it becomes possible to rebuild confidence and results at the same time, and to do it quickly. It is consistently the most effective way I have found to bring a disengaged learner back on track.
So the practice is built on two things: individual teaching, and the relationship behind it. With these students, trust always comes before progress. Give a child the right tutor, one who understands both the mathematics and the reasons they stepped away from it, and the results follow.
